blake“Width of a Circle,” by Blake Brasher, © 2016

Cover artist BLAKE BRASHER grew up in North Pole, Alaska, and earned a B.S. in Art and Design from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2003. He works part-time as a robotics engineer at Google and maintains a painting studio in Boston, MA. On the canvas, Blake explores the physical and spiritual nature of life through color and movement. He believes the purpose of art is to help us find our place in the universe, and he considers a painting successful if it draws people into a state of meditative contemplation. His work is neither ironic, nor an attempt to shock anyone. It is a sincere expression of inquiry and discovery. “Width of a Circle” utillizes limited color pallets and novel materials and techniques in order to achieve a sense of frozen fluidity, a chaos contained and captured in paint.
