We are delighted to announced that Daniela DeMatos, a candidate for the Master of Music degree in Composition at the Longy School of Music, is the first winner of the inaugural Radius-Longy Composition Competition. Her Woodwind Trio I for oboe, clarinet, and bassoon will be premiered at Radius Ensemble’s May 5 season finale.

She holds a Bachelor of Music in piano performance from Eastern Nazarene College, where she studied with Dr. Brady Millican. She has performed and taught in Finland, Estonia, Brazil, and Japan. Daniela discovered her love for music composition while taking a required music theory course for her Collaborative Piano degree, in the Fall of 2003.
